My good friend Dennis McCroskey is the model for this painting...he's the real deal and this is from a photo he provided...at least the cowboy is, I shot the clouds that I used in the background. The unstable weather that we get on the Eastern side of the Sierras yield some pretty impressive clouds from time to time.

I'm nearly done now, I've finished off the mountain in the back and I've begun the block-in of my foreground. I'm painting the foreground with palette knife to keep it loose...Enjoy!

Top is a closer shot of the foothills of Mt. Rose. I grew up wandering around a lot of that area, so I'm filled with fond memories as I paint this. The bottom shot shows my Tuesday morning progress. Tomorrow, foreground and by Friday I hope to post the finished piece...Enjoy!
